As we continue our alumni series, “Where Are They Now,” travel in time with us as we follow our graduates on their journeys and discover how An Achievable Dream positively impacted their lives. Also featured in this series are each graduating class’s sponsor to share their inspiration for supporting their class and a reflection from AAD president and CEO, Dr. Lee Vreeland, on each alumni. In this feature, we are highlighting Class of 2019 graduate, Tamara Allen.
Tell us where you are, what you’re doing now, and the accomplishment or life milestones you’re most proud of!
I am currently a junior at Virginia Tech studying philosophy, politics, and economics. The experiences I have had thus far as a college student have revealed parts of who I am. This journey of self-realization and maturity is my most significant life milestone.
What about An Achievable Dream do you feel most prepared you for the career and life you have now?
I greatly appreciate An Achievable Dream for exposing us to the corporate and business world and providing us with knowledge and experiences to present ourselves well when entering those spaces.
What is next for you?
My next steps are to intern and work on Capitol Hill.
From our President and CEO, Dr. Lee Vreeland:
Tamara lights up any room with her positive and upbeat personality. She has determination like no other when it comes to achieving her goals. She was a role model for her class, always dependable and a hard worker. These skills will carry her far in life!
