As we continue our alumni series, “Where Are They Now,” travel in time with us as we follow our graduates on their journeys and discover how An Achievable Dream made a positive impact on their lives. Also featured in this series are each graduating class’s sponsor to share their inspiration for supporting their class and a reflection from AAD president and CEO, Dr. Lee Vreeland, on each alumni. In this feature, we are highlighting Class of 2016 graduate, Lashondra Walker.
Tell us where you are, what you’re doing now, and the accomplishment or life milestones you’re most proud of!
I am in Kokomo, Indiana working for Smithfield Foods as an Operations Associate. I am most proud of being a first-generation college student.
What about An Achievable Dream do you feel most prepared you for the career and life you have now?
An Achievable Dream most prepared me by always having us speak “green” and introducing us to professionals. This foundation gives me the confidence to present to the upper management at my current company.
What is next for you?
I will be moving back to Virginia working in continuous improvement with Smithfield and researching programs to obtain my master’s degree.
From our President and CEO, Dr. Lee Vreeland:
Lashondra is a kind, articulate, intelligent, and respectful young lady. She was always very focused and motivated while at AAD. She has goals for her future and is determined to accomplish them. She has a quiet disposition but is not afraid to speak up when needed. I know she will excel in her master’s program and achieve great success in her future!
– Lee Vreeland, Ed.D., President/CEO, An Achievable Dream

Education is important. It will get you where you want to be in life. Our class is an amazing group of young people, and we are extremely proud to be An Achievable Dream class sponsors.

An Achievable Dream transforms the lives of young people in our community, believing that success is more than just academics. AAD equips its students with the skills and resources they need to pursue their dreams, determined to overcome life’s obstacles.
At Ferguson, much like our inspiring AAD community partner, we are confident that our success is more than the bottom line. When we listen to those we serve, we build a promising future for everyone. Ferguson remains inspired by how the school instills a profound sense of confidence in each student and enriches their lives with opportunities and educational experiences. We are thrilled to support their program and the young people in our community as they achieve great things.
